Vegetarian dog food → what you need to look out for!

Vegetarian dog food
is actually a good idea. The dog is best able to convert animal proteins into body substance. And the highest quality protein is provided by  milk proteins and  whole eggs. But the body can also utilize plant proteins very well . They are light and easy to digest. But the disadvantages lie elsewhere . Find out here what you need to look out for in vegetarian dog food!

What do you need to look out for in vegetarian dog food?

“The dog is a wolf and he almost only needs meat!” – this is the new trend that few are resisting. If you look at dog feeding scientifically, you can derive the correct composition of the food from the following   facts:

1. the biological value determines the usability of the feed

The conversion of animal or plant proteins depends  on  the number of amino acids present. The lower it is, the worse the  protein can be converted into body substance. This is why lean beef, for example, is not the best dietary suggestion,  although many people think so.

  1. Cereals are unsuitable not because of the starch, but because of the high gluten content

Even vets and nutrition experts constantly repeat that dogs can process grain well, because the dog  is not a wolf. Starch is a worthless filler and would not be a problem for him. That’s true, but it’s not about them. Today’s modern grain has 45% more gluten than 50 years ago and has been specially bred for the industrial baking process . And this causes digestive disorders  and allergies.

  1. Nutritional and technological additives with  high allergy potential

Everything listed here on the contents list is  no longer in the food.

naturally contained in the feed. The manufacturing process at very high temperatures of around 160°C  renders the ingredients worthless and they are then added again as chemicals.

For example  , high-quality organic raw materials are used and then

a packet of chemicals. Be sure to read the contents list!

When is vegetarian dog food really valuable?

The  general basic recipe for a healthy diet:

  1. High-quality protein meat and especially  also quark, yogurt, cheese,
  2. healthy carbohydrates – potatoes, vegetables, buckwheat (no cereals), rice (no gluten)
  3. Unsaturated fatty acids, especially omega 3 fatty acids from  Rapeseed oil, linseed oil
  4. Vitamins, minerals, trace elements of natural origin

Converted  to vegetarian dog food is the replacement of meat with cottage cheese, quark  and whole egg. Animal protein should always have the highest proportion. The important reason is its amino acid pattern. Cottage cheese, quark and whole egg contain  all amino acids and increase the usability of plant proteins. Their spectrum of  amino acids is  smaller  and many essential amino acids are not present. The best vegetable proteins are found in  sweet lupins, peas and buckwheat. They  are easily digestible  and should be second or third on the list of ingredients in a good vegetarian dog food   .

If  you cannot find this food composition, check if it is not quickly homemade.
